  • Sinbad

So, Sinbad came by for a guest appearance at work today... he did a short 20 minute comedy routine for us, and all the employees were entered into a raffle to have lunch and win special prizes... well, I was 1 of the lucky 10 individuals to eat a catered meal from Boston Market with Sinbad!!!   He's a pretty funny guy! He shared lots of stories about his fear for his dad, who was a preacher... good times...

  • The Longest Trip Ever...

so, I'm back in London for the week... here's a summary of how it's going... so far

5:30 pm (CST) arrive at DFW and check in

6:50 pm (CST) Scheduled time of departure

7:20 pm (CST) Actual time of departure (due to de-icing the plane)

3:30 am (EST) plane lands in JFK (yes, that's a 7 hr. plane ride to NY...) why? well, we had engine problems; one engine kept on turning itselft off; apparently we were already 1.5 hours over the ocean, but we turned back because the captain didn't feel safe; we landed and got it inspected, and it was broken; it would have taken too long to fix the broken part, so they had a plane ready for us. the pilot then told us that his flight crew had another 35 minutes to switch planes and take off in order to meet the cut-off for the pilot's flying hours for the day... well, needless to say, moving 250-300 people, luggage, cargo, and food & beverages would obviously take more than 35 minutes, but we tried... the doors were finally closed to the new plane... but then they opened again... we didn't make the deadline.. so the pilot & the crew had to go sleep...

4:30 am (EST) we disembarked from the plane and wait in line at the ticket counter, expeting to get vouchers for hotel, transportation, food, etc. However, new hope is given... the AA flight stand-by crew is on-call and can be expected to arrive there at 7 am so we sit around and wait.. AA was nice enough to hand out $10 vouchers for food so we go on the hunt for the store that is open. too bad the first store didn't open until 5 am...

5:00 am (EST) hunt down food

5:30 am (EST) fall asleep on JFK floor

7:00 am (EST) nothing happens - there are delays because of the bad weather in JFK & the flight attendants can't get in (some were driving from far away places, like Albany, which is almost 3 hrs away from JFK)

7:30 am (EST) flight attendants finally arrive & we begin boarding

8:00 am (EST) go to runway... third in line for take-off.. oh wait... we have to pull away so that we can reconcile the passengers with the passenger manifest... pilot pulls out of the line and turns the engines off... oh great.. it doesn't reconcile... oh wait, duh.. it matches! time to go, right? WRONG... the supervisors (on the ground) apparently must take a physical count of the passengers since some were able to get direct flights from JFK to their final destination...so we have to head back to the jetbridge so they can come and count the passengers... oh yeah... now the engine valve is broken... so the energy that goes from one engine to the other to turn it on doesn't work... so we pull back to the gate... what is going on?!?!?!

8:20 am (EST) we get the mechanics in to look at the problem. they say they can fix it, the part is available, and it will be quick

9:00 am (EST) they come and fix it & the pilot signs off on the log book... oh.. now we need to refuel the plane... wait some more for the refueling team...

10:00 am (EST) time to take off

10:00 pm (GMT) / 4:00 pm (CST) FINALLY LAND IN LONDON...

11:00 pm (GMT) arrive at hotel & check-in

All I gotta say is AA better give me some extra mileage for my 23 hour trek to London... and that was just the first day....

  • Harry Potter VII Title Released!!!

Play a game and figure it out for yourself...

Go here - click on the eraser and you will be taken to a room -- you'll see a window, a door and a mirror.

In the mirror, you'll see a hallway. Click on the farthest doorknob and look for the Christmas tree. They click on the center of the door next to the mirror and a wreath appears. Then click on the top of the mirror and you'll see a garland.

Look for a cobweb next to the door. Click on it, and it will disappear. Now, look at the chimes in the window. Click on the second chime to the right, and hold it down. The chime will turn into the key, which opens the door. Click on the wrapped gift behind the door, then click on it again and figure out the title yourself by playing a game of hangman.
